[slides] #WebRTC Reborn | @CloudExpo @Dan_Jenkins #IoT #RTC #USaaS

WebRTC Reborn Download Slide Deck: ▸ Here WebRTC has had a real tough three or four years, and so have those working with it. Only a few short years ago, the development world were excited about WebRTC and proclaiming how awesome it was. You might have played with the technology a couple of years ago, only to find the extra infrastructure requirements were painful to implement and poorly documented. This probably left a bitter taste in your mouth, especially when things went wrong. Those in the industry have been working hard to sweeten the deal again - efforts have been made to bring WebRTC into the mainstream and as a result the technology is experiencing a rebirth. Thanks to those who have remained dedicated to improving the situation for those around them, WebRTC is finally starting to fulfill the original expectations that were had of it. Both the technolo... Beyond Audio and Video: #WebRTC | @ThingsExpo #IoT Java #RTC #Telecom

WebRTC Beyond Audio and Video WebRTC is about the data channel as much as about video and audio conferencing. However, basically all commercial WebRTC applications have been built with a focus on audio and video. The handling of "data" has been limited to text chat and file download - all other data sharing seems to end with screensharing. What is holding back a more intensive use of peer-to-peer data? In her session at @ThingsExpo, Dr Silvia Pfeiffer, WebRTC Applications Team Lead at National ICT Australia, looked at different existing uses of peer-to-peer data sharing and how it can become useful in a live session to enable richer collaboration using WebRTC and HTML5. Testing #WebRTC Services | @CloudExpo @Tsahil #Telecom #ML #RTC #UCaaS

Overcoming the Challenges in Testing WebRTC Services WebRTC sits at the intersection between VoIP and the Web. As such, it poses some interesting challenges for those developing services on top of it, but also for those who need to test and monitor these services. In his session at WebRTC Summit, Tsahi Levent-Levi, co-founder of testRTC, reviewed the various challenges posed by WebRTC when it comes to testing and monitoring and on ways to overcome them. Moving #RTC into the Cloud | @CloudExpo #IoT #M2M #AI #UCaaS #WebRTC

Five Reasons to Move Real-Time Communications into the Cloud There are some enterprise applications that were born to be in the cloud. Customer relationship management (CRM) applications were an early favorite because salespeople (the primary consumers of CRM) are decentralized and mobile. Web applications and personal data storage are also ideal cloud applications because they allow enterprises to scale up easily while driving down costs. Enterprises have held on to their communications, however, making it one of the last applications to move into the cloud. Enterprises are now waking up to the fact that some people were born to use the cloud - specifically, those born in the 1980s and known as millennials. Millennials will soon make up more than half of the U.S. workforce and, for them, mobility and decentralization aren't the exception, they're the rule. As emplo... (more)

Matrix' #WebRTC and #IoT | @ThingsExpo @MatrixDotOrg #AI #RTC #UCaaS

Matrix is an ambitious new open standard for open, distributed, real-time communication over IP. It defines a new approach for interoperable Instant Messaging and VoIP based on pragmatic HTTP APIs and WebRTC, and provides open source reference implementations to showcase and bootstrap the new standard. Matrix.org's focus is on simplicity, security, and supporting the fullest feature set. For more information, visit http://matrix.org/. Matrix: The Missing Signaling Layer for WebRTC? WebRTC defines no default signaling protocol, causing fragmentation between WebRTC silos. SIP and XMPP provide possibilities, but come with considerable complexity and are not designed for use in a web environment. In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Matthew Hodgson, technical co-founder of the Matrix.org, will discuss how Matrix is a new non-profit Open Source Project that define... (more)

One Size Does Not Fit All By @GENBAND | @WebRTCSummit #RTC #WebRTC

While not quite mainstream yet, WebRTC is starting to gain ground with Carriers, Enterprises and Independent Software Vendors (ISV's) alike. WebRTC makes it easy for developers to add audio and video communications into their applications by using Web browsers as their platform. But like any market, every customer engagement has unique requirements, as well as constraints. And of course, one size does not fit all. In her session at WebRTC Summit, Dr. Natasha Tamaskar, Vice President, Head of Cloud and Mobile Strategy at GENBAND, explored what is needed to take a real time communications engagement experience from a simple communication, to a truly immersive multi-layer engagement experience. Furthermore, she will explore the role of a Communications Platform as a Service (PaaS) in delivering this experience. WebRTC Summit 2017 New York, co-located with 20th Cloud... (more)
